About Dr. Doris
Dr. Johnson, Founder of Heart & Soul Wellness Institute (formally Heart and Soul Institute of Natural Medicine), believes in servicing the community as well as the individual and has been an activist and teacher for many years. Dr. Doris is currently an instructor and intern supervisor at Dongguk University, Los Angeles, and an instructor at the Daoist Traditions College in Asheville, NC She is also a member and volunteer of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, and has volunteered in Haiti with Acupuncturists Without Borders following the 2010 earthquake.
A licensed acupuncturist and herbalist, Dr. Doris received her second Master’s degree from Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and her Doctorate in Oriental Medicine from American Liberty University. As part of her practice, she uses the ancient discipline of Oriental medicine, as well as many cutting edge, integrative and complementary practices of modern natural medicine.
As an herbalist and nutritionist, Dr. Johnson uses the art of balancing alchemy and energy to assist her in creating healing and rejuvenating formulas through the use of herbs and food. This allows the patient the opportunity to experience faster, more sustained healing.
Her Healing modalities don't stop there! Dr. Doris believes in order for wholistic healing to take place on all levels, one must also move the body in ways to allows for free energy flow and a spiritual connection to nature and the universe. Dr. Doris is an African dance instructor and tai chi instructor. She invites and teaches clients to partake in gentle and meditative tai chi movements and/or fun and exciting aerobic African dance movements.
